About This Role
Air Methods, a leading US air medical provider, is hiring a Fixed Wing Pilot to fly the Pilatus PC-12 (single-engine turboprop) on IFR LifeFlight air ambulance missions based in Pensacola, Florida. The pilot ensures the aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport the medical crew and patient to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on a 7-days-on/7-days-off rotation of 12-hour shifts. The role carries final authority for the safety of the aircraft, passengers, cargo and equipment, and demands strict compliance with the FARs, the AIM and the company General Operations Manual. Base pay ranges from $82,900 to $93,251 per year, with additional experience, IFR and base stipends plus a sign-on bonus.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate Air Methods aircraft safely and legally, completing a pre-flight inspection before every flight and signing off the Daily Flight Log to verify the aircraft is airworthy, and performing a complete walk-around of the aircraft before entering the cockpit and again after each flight.
- Hold final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo and equipment.
- Be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems of the backup aircraft used at the operational area, and ensure the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.
- Complete all required documentation, conduct detailed flight planning to exacting standards on short notice, and participate regularly in company meetings, activities, projects, committees and community outreach.

Requirements
- Flight experience under the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) program: 2,500 total flight hours, including a minimum of 2,000 hours in category (airplane)
- 1,000 hours pilot-in-command in category
- 500 hours of cross-country flight time, at least 50 of which were at night
- 500 hours of turbine time
- 100 hours of night flight
- and 100 hours of flight in actual instrument conditions in category. Pilots must have flown in category within the previous 24 months. Certificates and ratings: an instrument rating for the category and class of aircraft (an ATP rating in category satisfies this requirement)
- a fixed-wing multi-engine rating for twin-engine aircraft
- and a commercial single-engine land certificate for single-engine aircraft such as the PC-12. A First or Second Class FAA medical certificate is required. Education: an associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school plus two to five years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination (bachelor's degree preferred). Operational requirements: as a member of the flight crew, the pilot must maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds and be under 70 years of age.
