About This Role
Air Methods Pilots is hiring a temporary fixed-wing EMS air ambulance pilot in Farmington, New Mexico, operating a PC12 under IFR. The pilot transports medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area and is responsible for safe, legal and weather-appropriate aircraft operations. The assignment provides a $50,000 base stipend, off-duty housing and a $15,000 sign-on bonus, with a 7-days-on/7-days-off schedule consisting of 12-hour shifts.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The pilot ensures that aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy and suitable for transporting medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within the assigned operational area. Duties include operating Air Methods aircraft safely and legally
- completing the pre-flight inspection before every flight and signing off the Daily Flight Log to verify airworthiness
- conducting a complete aircraft walk-around before entering the cockpit and after each flight
- and exercising final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo and equipment. The pilot must be thoroughly familiar with the aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft used in the operational area and must ensure that the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems. Additional responsibilities include completing required documentation, conducting detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards, complying with Federal Aviation Regulations, the Aeronautical Information Manual, General Operations Manual guidelines and Air Methods policies and procedures, and regularly participating in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees and community outreach. Other duties may be assigned. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements
- Applicants must have flown the relevant category for a commercial operator or in the military within the previous 24 months and must maintain positive, professional relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals and the public. The Fixed Wing IFR program requires 2,500 total flight hours, including at least 2,000 hours in category, 1,000 hours PIC in category, 500 hours of cross-country flight time, 500 hours of fixed-wing turbine time, 100 hours of night flight time and 100 hours of actual instrument flight in category. Candidates must hold a Commercial and Instrument Rating for the applicable aircraft category and class
- an ATP rating in category satisfies this requirement. A first- or second-class FAA Medical certificate is required. The position requires maintaining a weight of no more than 250 pounds and being under 70 years of age. Candidates need an associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school plus two to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
