About This Role
Horizon Airways is recruiting a commercial pilot to conduct air transport operations using Cessna 206 aircraft from their Horn Island base in the Torres Strait Islands. The role involves day VFR operations with potential travel to satellite bases across regional Queensland, requiring independent decision-making and adherence to established procedures. The position offers full-time employment with company housing and an anticipated start date in October 2026.
Requirements
- Commercial Pilot License
- Minimum 250 hours total flight time (excluding simulator/FSTD hours)
- Experience with analogue flight instrumentation
- Ability to work remotely and unsupervised per standard operating procedures
- Manual driver's license
- Day VFR operations only
- Willingness to travel to satellite bases at Cloncurry, Innisfail/Cairns, and Mackay as required
- Desirable: 400+ total hours
- Desirable: 100+ multi-engine hours
- Desirable: Garmin G1000 avionics experience
- Desirable: Experience on Cessna 172, 206, Piper PA31 Navajo, PA34 Seneca, or Tecnam P2012
- Desirable: Flight instructor rating (Grade 1-3, DFE, NVFR, MEA, or IR endorsements)
- Desirable: Night VFR Rating
- Desirable: Multi-Engine Instrument Rating
- Desirable: Remote area experience
- Desirable: Schedule 8 maintenance capability
