Sierra West Airlines is recruiting a Metro First Officer/SIC for its cargo operation based at El Paso, Texas (ELP). The role is suited to dependable, adaptable pilots who want valuable real-world experience in a fast-paced, on-demand environment and who take pride in a hardworking, safety-focused team. The First Officer will support safe aircraft operations, complex internal and external communications, freight handling, exemplary customer service, and maintenance reporting. The position demands physical stamina and readiness for frequent overnight callouts, weekends, holidays, day and night flying, weather conditions, variable shifts, overtime, after-hours callouts, and extensive travel, including unplanned overnight flights away from base with uncertain duration. Duties & Responsibilities
- The First Officer/SIC must maintain professional communications skills for complex internal and external aircraft communications
- assist with loading and unloading freight
- operate the aircraft in accordance with all applicable regulations and program/company policies and procedures
- emphasize flight-crew-member safety and exemplary customer service
- note and communicate aircraft deficiencies for maintenance review and correction
- perform flights during day, night, and weather conditions
- and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications include a Commercial Pilot License with multi-engine land and instrument rating, a current Instrument Proficiency Check, ICAO Level 4 English proficiency, an FAA First Class Medical, an FCC Radiotelephone Operator Permit, and a current passport booklet

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, eligible to work in the United States, able to lift up to 125 lbs., climb ladders, and maneuver around aircraft, complete pre-employment DOT drug screening and other required background checks, and obtain an airport SIDA badge. The Basic Qualifications are 800 hours of total time (TT), 250 hours PIC, 75 hours ME, and 40 hours turbine. Part 135 experience, familiarity with company aircraft, and/or previous cargo experience are highly preferable. Candidates must be willing and able to relocate to the assigned base—specifically El Paso, Texas—travel extensively, work various shifts, overtime, and after-hours callouts, and respond to the on-demand schedule with frequent overnight callouts, weekends, and holidays.
