About This Role
SpaceX is seeking an in-house pilot for various aircraft in a regular, remote-Nevada role, with domestic and international flying from local airports. The pilot will monitor aircraft servicing such as fuel, oil, and oxygen; complete flight planning, performance, weight and balance work, and passenger briefings; and use the Threats, Plans, and Considerations methodology to mitigate operational risks. Basic qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalency certificate, 3,000+ total flight hours, and a first class medical certificate. Boeing 737 and G650 type ratings plus 500+ hours of time in type are preferred. The pilot must be within 2-4 hours of LAX, available on call, hold a current passport, pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg, and satisfy the listed ITAR eligibility requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure aircraft ground servicing items such as fuel, oil, oxygen, etc. are monitored and accomplished according to standard operating procedures.
- Complete flight planning, performance, and weight and balance tasks for each assignment.
- Complete passenger briefings according to company policy and regulation.
- Utilize Threats, Plans, and Considerations briefing methodology for briefings and to mitigate operational risks.
- Maintain a current first class medical certificate.
Requirements
- BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3,000+ hours total flight time
- First class medical certificate. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Boeing 737 type rating
- G650 type rating
- 500+ hours time in type. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Within 2-4 hour travel distance to LAX
- Ability to work on an on-call basis
- Current passport
- Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg. ITAR REQUIREMENTS: To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
