About This Role
Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) is seeking a permanent, full-time Aeromedical Pilot at its Rockhampton Base to support emergency aeromedical retrievals and interfacility transfers across coastal, regional and remote Queensland. RFDS Queensland operates a 25-aircraft fleet comprising 16 Beechcraft King Air B200s, 4 King Air B350CHWs and 5 King Air B360s, and provides aeromedical, primary healthcare and 24/7 telehealth services through multidisciplinary teams. The pilot works 14 shifts per 28 days on day and night shifts Monday to Sunday, combining safe flight operations with aircraft preparation, support for healthcare teams, patient and equipment transfers, and service to remote communities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Aeromedical Pilot supports the Rockhampton Aeromedical team with emergency retrievals and interfacility transfers. Duties include operating RFDS aircraft safely in accordance with company procedures and aviation regulations
- preparing aircraft for flight, including refuelling and replenishment of oxygen supplies
- supporting healthcare teams with patient and equipment transfers
- assisting with loading and unloading patients, stretchers and medical equipment
- completing operational and regulatory documentation
- maintaining operational knowledge, systems and base records
- and contributing to a strong safety and teamwork culture.

Requirements
- Applicants must hold a current multi-engine aircraft instrument rating with four or more renewals, a current Australian ATPL or CPL, and a current Class 1 Aviation Medical. The required experience is 4000 hours of total flying time, 2500 hours as Pilot in Command, 2000 hours as Pilot in Command of multi-engine aircraft, 200 hours as Pilot in Command at night, 200 hours of instrument time, and turbine experience. Recent single-pilot flying experience within the last 2 to 5 years is highly desirable. Candidates must have Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid working rights

- and be able to obtain and maintain a Blue Card. Successful applicants must also hold a current unrestricted Queensland driver's licence for a Blue Card application, provide evidence of required vaccinations or immunity, obtain an ASIC and Blue Card, complete drug and alcohol testing, and attend a simulator assessment in Bundaberg or on the Sunshine Coast before an offer.
