About This Role
Ornge, Ontario's air ambulance and critical care transport provider, is hiring a permanent full-time fixed-wing First Officer to fly the Pilatus PC-12 on emergency medical service (EMS) missions across the province. First Officers are responsible for all aspects of aircraft operation, including crew and passenger safety, and must be able to fly in varying conditions, handle pressure well, and stay flexible and adaptable while following all company policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Because Ornge aircraft are province-wide resources, aviation personnel may be assigned to provide flight support at bases other than their home base. The role is based at one of four Ontario locations — Sioux Lookout, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, or Timmins — and operates in a 24/7 shift environment. The targeted salary range is $77,763.97–$100,516.47 per year as per the OPEIU collective bargaining agreement, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate the PC-12 EMS aircraft in all respects, ensuring the safety of crew and passengers.
- Fly in varying weather and operational conditions, handling pressure well while remaining flexible and adaptable.
- Follow all applicable company policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Complete the company's training program and successfully pass a PPC/IFT check conducted by a Transport Canada Inspector or Approved Check Pilot.
- Provide flight support at bases other than the assigned home base when operational demand arises, including occasional overnight stays away from home base.
- Work various shifts (standard 12 hours) plus overtime — covering days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays in a round-the-clock operation.

Requirements
- Valid Commercial Pilot Licence issued by Transport Canada.
- A minimum of 500 hours of flight experience.
- Group 1 or Group 3 IFR (instrument) rating.
- Valid Category 1 Medical certificate.
- Valid Canadian passport or the ability to work in Canada, together with unrestricted ability to travel to the USA.
- A satisfactory criminal record search and immunization records with the required vaccinations.
- Preference will be given to candidates who hold 500 hours of PIC (pilot-in-command) time.
- Successful candidates must live within, or be willing to relocate to, close proximity of their assigned base, and must reside somewhere that permits compliance with CARs rest requirements between shifts and allows arrival at the assigned base within 1.0 hour of callout when on an on-call shift.
- Employees may be required to use respiratory protective equipment and must be clean shaven to ensure an effective facial seal.
