About This Role
Everts Air is hiring a First Officer to operate the MD-80 out of Laredo, Texas, on Lower-48 (L48) flights. The First Officer reports administratively to the Chief Pilot and functionally to the captain of the assigned flight, operating the aircraft safely in accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies and procedures. This is a regular full-time, non-exempt position paid at $115 per block hour, primarily supporting cargo operations (with some passenger operations) under 14 CFR Part 121.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The First Officer ensures he/she is legally proficient and adequately rested upon assignment of a flight, holds current airway and airport charts for the route and verifies them before departure, and aids the captain in preflight preparation, checklists, and a visual inspection of the airplane.
- As pilot monitoring, the First Officer makes all normal radio contacts and position reports and secondarily assumes the captain's responsibilities, performing other duties as directed by the captain.
- For passenger operations, the First Officer assists the flight attendant with the escort, enplaning, and deplaning of passengers as necessary.
- Fuel servicing must be monitored and supervised by the First Officer, an Everts Air Cargo mechanic, or another authorized person, and cargo loading must be supervised by the First Officer or another authorized person — checking proper securing of cargo and any damage to the cargo loading system or aircraft structure, verifying loads match the load schedule/plan, and assisting in securing cargo.
- When loading or unloading is performed by non-EAC personnel, the First Officer observes and assists to ensure the cargo conforms to the load plan, is properly secured, and that neither the aircraft nor the cargo is damaged during handling.
- At the completion of a flight or series of flights, the First Officer audits the trip envelope to ensure all required documents are present and initials the envelope checklist as required.
- The First Officer attends annual recurrent training, completes assigned Computer Based Training in a timely manner, maintains 90-day currency, and performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Candidates must hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, a Commercial certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings, and a first-class medical certificate.
- The First Officer must be qualified through training, experience, and expertise under 14 CFR Part 61 and meet the qualification standards of 14 CFR Part 61 Subpart G.
- A valid U.S. driver's license and a valid U.S. passport are required.
- Applicants must be able to pass a drug test and an airport background criminal-history check, and must work effectively in a drug-free workplace in compliance with company drug and alcohol policies.
- Candidates must have a full understanding of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices under Title 14 CFR (Parts 1, 23, 25, 67, 91, and 121), company Operations Specifications, all appropriate maintenance and airworthiness standards, and the contents of company manuals.
