About This Role
Cirrus Aircraft is seeking a Flight Instructor 4 to provide industry-leading, learner-centered flight and ground training to Cirrus customers at its premier Cirrus Services Center in Knoxville, serving the Alcoa, Tennessee location. The instructor will deliver training in Cirrus SR and SF aircraft using a structured syllabus and proprietary course materials, while also serving as pilot in command for corporate, demonstration, repositioning, ferry, internal training, and post-maintenance flights when required. The role combines high-quality standardized instruction, detailed student assessment and records management, flight safety, customer service, aircraft knowledge, and continuous improvement of the training operation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide professional, learner-centered flight and ground instruction in accordance with Cirrus policies, procedures, program guidance, and established training standards. Conduct training events, assess each pilot's psychomotor, cognitive, and affective performance, identify individual learning needs, and customize lessons when appropriate. Maintain timely and accurate communication with students before and after training, recommend students for FAA written and practical examinations, and meticulously record all training activities and results in pilot training records. Apply all Cirrus and industry safety procedures, make prompt and accurate safety-of-flight decisions, and support a strong culture of flight safety and standardized instruction. Act as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft during Part 91 corporate flight operations, including corporate missions, ferry and repositioning flights, internal training flights, demonstration flights, and post-maintenance flights as needed. Perform flight reviews, proficiency checks, and other related pilot and instructor duties. Complete normal preflight and postflight inspections and support aircraft servicing, including cleaning, fueling, adding oil, applying deicing fluid, and updating chart subscriptions. Maintain deep and current knowledge of Cirrus aircraft products and continuously learn about developments across the Cirrus aircraft line. Requirements
- Three years of pilot experience are required, together with either 1,000 hours of dual given or 750 hours in Cirrus aircraft.
- Applicants must hold a current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate for Airplane Single-Engine and Instrument Airplane privileges, as well as an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate for Airplane Single-Engine Land and Instrument Airplane privileges.
- A current FAA Second-Class Airman Medical Certificate or higher is required.
- The posting requires applicants to meet the single-engine ATP requirements under FAR 61.159, including 1,500 hours total flight time, 500 hours cross-country, 100 hours night, 75 hours instrument, and 250 hours airplane pilot-in-command time.
- Applicants must also have 100 hours of turbine time or be currently employed by Cirrus as a pilot.
- An SF50 type rating and an ATP certificate are preferred.
- Preferred operational experience includes IFR in congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive IMC, international flying, and night flying.
