About This Role
Air Methods — operating as CareFlight of the Rockies (CFOR) — is hiring a Fixed Wing Pilot based in Grand Junction, Colorado, to fly single-pilot IFR air medical missions on the Pilatus PC-12, with dual qualification also required on the Beechcraft King Air 200 (BE200). Working a 7-on/7-off schedule of 12-hour shifts, the pilot ensures the aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The role carries final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo and equipment, and demands compliance with the FARs, the Aeronautical Information Manual, the company General Operations Manual, and Air Methods policies and procedures. Compensation is a location-adjusted salary range of $91,190–$102,576 (built on a base pay scale of $82,900–$93,251 with a 110% ACCRA locality factor), supplemented by a $50,000 stipend, a $3,000 IFR stipend, an experience stipend up to $12,000, a $15,000 sign-on bonus, and available off-duty housing.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner and act as the final authority regarding aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo and equipment.
- Complete a pre-flight before every flight, verifying the aircraft is airworthy by signing off the Daily Flight Log, and perform a complete walk-around before entering the cockpit and again after each flight.
- Be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems of the backup aircraft used in the operational area, and ensure the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.
- Complete all required documentation, conduct detailed flight planning to exacting standards with little notice, and participate regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees and community outreach.
- Ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within the assigned operational area.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements
- Must meet CareFlight of the Rockies minimums: dual qualification in the BE200 and PC12
- 2,500 hours total time (3,000 preferred)
- 1,000 hours PIC
- 200 hours night flight time
- 100 hours actual instrument and 500 hours minimum instrument (1,000 hours total instrument preferred). IFR Program minimums: 2,500 total flight hours with a minimum of 2,000 hours in category
- 1,000 hours PIC in category
- 500 hours cross-country flight time (at least 50 of which at night)
- 500 hours turbine time
- 100 hours night flight time
- 100 hours in actual instrument conditions in category. Pilots must have flown in category within the previous 24 months. Certificates and licenses: an instrument rating for the category and class of aircraft (an ATP rating in category satisfies the instrument requirement)
- a fixed-wing multi-engine rating for twin-engine aircraft and a Commercial single-engine land certificate for single-engine aircraft
- a First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate. Education and experience: an Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school plus two to five years of related experience and/or training (Bachelor's degree preferred). As a member of the flight crew, the pilot must maintain a weight not to exceed 250 pounds and be under 70 years old.
