About This Role
This full-time Fixed Wing Pilot position supports Life Net's PC12 IFR air-medical operation from North Platte, Nebraska. The pilot is responsible for determining whether aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for transporting medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals, operating safely and legally, maintaining compliance with FAA regulations and company procedures, and exercising final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment. The role also requires detailed flight planning with little notice, familiarity with backup-aircraft medical systems, regular documentation, and participation in company activities and community outreach.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The pilot operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner and completes a pre-flight before every flight, verifying airworthiness by signing the Daily Flight Log.
- The pilot performs a complete aircraft walk-around before entering the cockpit and after each flight, retains final authority for aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment, and remains thoroughly familiar with the aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft used at the operational area.
- The pilot also ensures the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems, completes required documentation, conducts detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards, participates regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach, and performs other assigned duties.

Requirements
- Applicants need an associate degree or equivalent education from a two-year college or technical school together with two to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- a bachelor's degree is preferred. Flight-crew members must weigh no more than 250 pounds and be under 70 years old. Pilots must have flown in category within the previous 24 months. The IFR program requires 2,500 total flight hours, including at least 2,000 hours in category, 1,000 PIC hours in category, 500 hours of cross-country time including at least 50 hours at night, 500 hours of turbine time, 100 hours of night flight, and 100 hours in actual instrument conditions in category. The posting requires an instrument rating for the applicable category and class, with an ATP rating in category accepted as meeting that requirement
- it also specifies the applicable commercial single-engine land or fixed-wing multiengine rating depending on the aircraft, plus a first- or second-class FAA medical certificate. Regular attendance and compliance with Air Methods employment practices and policies are required.
