About This Role
KM Malta Airlines, the national airline of the Maltese islands, is recruiting a Director Crew Training (DCT) to lead, manage and develop the airline's crew training programmes. The DCT reports to the Chief Operations Officer and must be acceptable to the Authority as the Nominated Person Crew Training on the KM Malta Airlines AOC and Head of Training of the Cabin Crew Training Organisation. The post-holder performs flying duties as part of the operating flight crew to maintain familiarity with line operations, and must hold a current A320 Type Rating Instructor rating on top of at least five years as an A320 airline Captain. Full-time, Malta. Closing date 5 September 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Fulfil all legal obligations of Nominated Person Crew Training and CCTO Head of Training, and all obligations in Part D of the Operations Manual
- Formulate and manage the crew training policy across flight crew, cabin crew and operations controllers
- Ensure standardisation of instructors and determine training and checking needs and syllabi
- Train, test, monitor and maintain the required level of proficiency of all flight and cabin crew, including specialist instructor and examiner duties
- Perform flying duties as part of the operating flight crew, or participate as an observer, to keep close familiarity with routine flight and ground operations
- Keep up to date in route operations
- Maintain all crew training and checking records and issue required certificates
- Communicate and correspond with the Authority on training and checking matters
- Recommend appropriately qualified personnel for upgrade to instructor and/or examiner and obtain Authority approval
- Chair the Flight Operations Training Board and plan monthly training and checking requirements
- Assist in the Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) programme in accordance with the procedures and the OM
Requirements
- Acceptable to the Authority as a Nominated Person on the KMMA AOC and as Head of Training of the CCTO
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience as an airline Captain on the A320 family aircraft
- A current Type Rating Instructor on Airbus 320 with at least two (2) years' experience as a TRI
- A minimum of five (5) years of management experience in a comparable organisation, including two (2) years within the aeronautical industry
- Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable EU safety regulations, the Company's operations specifications and the relevant parts of the operations manual
- Thorough knowledge of crew training concepts for flight crew, cabin crew and operations control personnel
- Experience in cabin crew training and the associated procedures and regulations
- Proficient in the requirements of relevant regulations concerning AOC holders; able to liaise with the regulating authorities
- Training in the legal requirements and obligations of a nominated person within an AOC
Preferred Qualifications
- A Type Rating Examiner certification on the A320
