About This Role
High Performance Aviation, LLC is seeking contract pilot(s) to operate a Cessna 340A under Part 91 from Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport (KCXO) in Conroe, TX. This 1099 assignment is on a per-flight or per-day basis and covers owner-directed trips, repositioning, maintenance flights, and single-pilot IFR operations in busy Houston-area airspace and the Gulf Coast environment, including summer heat and coastal weather. The company is seeking a professional, safety-focused pilot for a long-term working relationship; trips are generally scheduled in advance but may arise at short notice, and the work includes day trips, multi-day itineraries with overnights, and weekend and holiday flying, with estimated activity of 20-60 hours a month. Living within approximately 1 hour of KCXO is strongly preferred, and the contract may potentially transition to a full-time salaried role as flight activity grows.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate the Cessna 340A safely and in full compliance with FARs, insurance requirements, and manufacturer limitations. Conduct thorough preflight planning covering weather, fuel, weight and balance, performance, and alternates. Provide professional, discreet service to owners and passengers, and coordinate scheduling, FBO services, fuel, catering, and ground transportation as needed. Complete post-flight walkarounds, promptly report any discrepancies or squawks, and maintain accurate flight logs, Hobbs/Tach records, and trip documentation. Coordinate with maintenance on aircraft status, inspections, and AD/service bulletin compliance
- fly maintenance, repositioning, and post-maintenance test flights as requested
- and maintain aircraft cleanliness and readiness between trips.
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications include an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate — Airplane Multi-Engine Land
- an instrument rating that is current and proficient for single-pilot IFR
- a current FAA Second-Class Medical (or better)
- a current flight review and instrument currency
- meeting or exceeding the insurance underwriting minimums, with final requirements set by the carrier
- a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to KCXO
- the ability to pass a background check and provide a current pilot resume, certificates, medical, and logbook summary
- and clean FAA records with no accidents, incidents, violations, or enforcement actions. The minimum experience block lists 1,200 hours total time, 200 hours multi-engine, 50 hours instrument (actual and simulated), and 25 hours in a Cessna 340 or similar make and model, or an approved type-specific initial course. Pilots close to these numbers are encouraged to apply
- final requirements will be determined by insurance approval, and individual experience will be reviewed for qualification. Being within approximately 1 hour of KCXO is strongly preferred. Preferred qualifications include Cessna 340/340A time
- Twin Cessna experience in the 300/400 series, including 310, 320, 335, 340, 401, 402, 414, and 421
- turbocharged and pressurized piston experience
- formal type-specific training
- an ATP certificate
- CFI/CFII/MEI
- familiarity with Houston-area airspace and Gulf Coast weather
- Garmin GTN / G500-series or comparable avionics proficiency
- and prior Part 91 owner-flown or corporate flight department experience.
