Sun Country Airlines' College Bridge Program First Officer position offers University of North Dakota students a structured pathway from collegiate flight training and flight instructing into a Boeing 737NG First Officer seat. Sun Country operates 737NGs across the US (including Hawaii and Alaska), the Caribbean, Mexico, and Europe, running scheduled passenger service, charters (military, sports, and event-based), cargo, and seasonal leisure travel. Candidates enroll while studying at UND, build experience as certificated flight instructors, and qualify for a Restricted ATP under FAR 61.160 before starting First Officer class.
Duties & Responsibilities
- As a Sun Country First Officer you operate Boeing 737NG aircraft on the airline's scheduled passenger service, military/sports/event charters, cargo flights, and seasonal leisure routes across the US (including Hawaii and Alaska), the Caribbean, Mexico, and Europe.
- The College Bridge pathway first has candidates serve as certificated flight instructors at the University of North Dakota, delivering 300 hours of dual flight instruction, before transitioning into the First Officer role through Sun Country's in-house Certified Training Program.

Requirements
- This is a multi-step College Bridge pathway run with the University of North Dakota (UND). Candidates must be enrolled in the designated UND major whose flight training qualifies them for a Restricted ATP (R-ATP) under FAR 61.160, and must be at least a junior or senior. To apply, applicants must hold a Commercial Certificate with Instrument and Multi-Engine ratings, attend one in-person recruiting event, and complete the required initial one-on-one interview for entry into the program. Candidates must then secure a Flight Instructor position at UND (CFI and CFII required
- MEI optional) and complete 300 hours of dual flight instruction in UND aircraft before requesting a First Officer interview. Final hiring requires a Contingent Job Offer after a successful interview and graduation with the qualifying major to be eligible for R-ATP under FAR 61.160. - and R-ATP eligibility at a 1,000-hour minimum (aviation college background). The 1,000 total hours may include up to 100 hours of simulator time and must include 250 hours PIC in an airplane, 200 hours of cross-country (100 of which PIC cross-country in an airplane), 100 hours of night (25 of which PIC night in an airplane), 75 hours of instrument, and 25 hours of multi-engine.
