About This Role
Etihad Airways is recruiting an A320 Training Captain based in Abu Dhabi. The role combines ultimate command responsibility for the safe, secure and efficient operation of each flight with responsibility for developing Etihad pilots’ knowledge, skills, attitude and resilience. The successful candidate will deliver A320 instructor and examiner-related training, support the airline’s training system, uphold operational standards and act as a professional role model across the organisation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Captain has ultimate authority for the safe, secure and efficient operation of every flight, exercising full command from taxi-out through final engine shutdown. Duties include ensuring the safety and security of crew, passengers, cargo and aircraft
- leading the flight and cabin crew through sound decision-making and effective crew resource management
- operating efficiently and in accordance with fuel and sustainability policies
- and delivering consistent on-time performance. As an A320 Instructor, the Captain conducts training in line with GCAA CAR-FCL and CAR-AIR OPS regulations and Etihad Operations Manual Parts A and D, displays instructor competencies, provides high-quality pilot training, gives training-system and course feedback, develops pilot potential and skills, and serves as a positive role model.

Requirements
- Candidates must have at least 5,500 hours of total flying time, including 2,500 PIC hours on multi-crew glass-cockpit aircraft and 1,500 PIC hours on an A320-family aircraft.
- They must have flown the A320 family within the previous 12 months, hold an A320 type rating valid for at least two months at the time of joining, and hold a current unrestricted ICAO ATPL, current A320 status and an unrestricted current Class 1 medical.
- Applicants must be under 59 on the joining date and have English language fluency at Level 4 or higher.
- Where hours were accumulated on flights with inflight relief, only 75% counts toward the required minimum.
- Instructor experience requirements include three years as an A320 Instructor and/or Examiner (TRI/TRE), 1,000 hours of FSTD training and 1,000 hours of LIFUS/IOE experience, together with strong technical knowledge.
- Current TRE/TRI status and experience with MPL, cadet or ab-initio training, EBT and/or AQP/ATQP are advantages.
