About This Role
BAE Systems is recruiting a Typhoon Instructor Pilot for its Saudi Arabia operation in Taif. BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia, including maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and the safe training of RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel in the use of their aircraft, equipment and weapons. The post-holder reports to the Head of Flying Typhoon through the BAe Squadron Senior Pilot and works alongside the RSAF squadron commander, advising on all matters relating to Typhoon operations and delivering conversion, continuation and recurrency training to RSAF aircrew. The role combines line flying instruction with ground instruction, supervisory duties and staff/course-development work on the squadron, and it also carries responsibility to the Flying Wing Commander for flying instructional missions for cadets in accordance with the appropriate RSAF training syllabi. The position sits within BAE Systems' wider commitment to the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the development of Saudi National capability through the growth of Saudi National Partner Companies. All appointments in Saudi Arabia are subject to receipt of all necessary Government and/or Customer approvals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist and advise the RSAF squadron commander on all matters relating to the Typhoon aircraft.
- Assist and advise the RSAF squadron commander on all matters related to pilot training on the unit.
- Perform daily squadron duties, including flying and ground instruction, together with supervisory duties as directed by the RSAF squadron commander.
- Carry out general staff work, projects, course development and other related tasks as requested by the RSAF squadron commander.
- Conduct transition, continuation and recurrency training, ground school lectures, briefings and de-briefings based on the operational requirements of the aircrew.
- Complete accurate, detailed reports and assessments of the pilots under instruction.
- Provide assistance to the RSAF squadron commander with the preparation of training and operational documents and specialist papers as requested.
- Fly instructional missions for cadets in accordance with the appropriate Royal Saudi Air Force training syllabi, reporting to the Flying Wing Commander for that task.

Requirements
- A minimum of 1,500 hours flying experience on fast jet aircraft. Extensive proven previous instructional experience. Candidates must have previously completed at least one tour at the Typhoon Operational Conversion Unit or an equivalent unit, and must be qualified C to I (Combat Ready to Instructor) on Typhoon, covering all aspects of the syllabi up to IPUG (Instructor Pilot Upgrade). The role demands strong people-development competencies, high levels of interpersonal skill, and the ability to communicate with, influence and direct Saudi cadets both in the air and on the ground.
