About This Role
Airbus Asia Training Centre is seeking a Type Rating Instructor/Type Rating Examiner for a permanent position based in Singapore. The role instructs and checks airline crews converting to Airbus across operational, technical, performance, normal-procedure and emergency-procedure subjects, using flight training devices, fixed-base and full-flight simulators, aircraft and classroom facilities. The instructor will support international customers, represent Airbus to operators and aviation authorities, assist the Head of Training, conduct base and line training, and contribute to instructor assessment, standardization, audits and training-device qualification activities. The position offers collaboration with teams worldwide and opportunities to develop expertise in management or project roles; commuting to the position is not possible.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Instruct and/or check airline crews converting to Airbus on the operational, technical and performance aspects of the applicable aircraft type or types. Deliver this training through Flight Training Devices, Fixed Base Simulators, Full Flight Simulators, aircraft and lecture rooms, ensuring that crews can safely and correctly perform all normal and emergency procedures required by airworthiness authorities. Conduct theoretical training for type-rating, flight operations and aircraft performance courses
- comply with Airbus policies, standards and standardization requirements
- deliver training within defined time limits
- evaluate crew progression
- and determine when additional training is needed to achieve the required proficiency and competence. Conduct base training and line training, including Initial Operating Experience, on applicable Airbus aircraft. Conduct aircraft type-rating skill tests, license proficiency checks and operator proficiency checks. Assist the Head of Training with reviewing or developing training programmes, assess instructors, perform standardization duties when appointed as an Airbus Standardizer, maintain a high level of airmanship in a multicultural environment, support flight-training audits and FSTD fly-outs and qualifications, and perform other duties assigned by the Head of Training. The instructor will also conduct flight and simulator training for international customers and represent Airbus before operators and authorities.

Requirements
- Applicants must hold an EASA ATPL, an EASA Medical Class 1 certificate, a valid EASA type rating on the relevant Airbus aircraft type, and a valid EASA instructor certificate on that type, unrestricted for LIFUS or Landing Training.
- An EASA examiner certificate on the relevant Airbus type is a plus.
- Candidates must hold or have held a Low Visibility Operations qualification, including at least one autoland in an Airbus Fly-by-wire aircraft as Captain, and must hold or have held an ETOPS approval qualification.
- The minimum experience requirements are 8,000 hours as a pilot, 5,000 hours on large jet aircraft, 2,500 hours as Captain on Airbus aircraft, 1,500 hours on Airbus FBW aircraft type or types, and 500 hours as Captain or as an instructor assigned to conduct LIFUS/IOE.
- Base training or Base Training Assessment expertise is a plus, and preference is given to candidates who have completed the Airbus Pilot Instructor Course (APIC).
- Fluent English and a minimum English Language Proficiency Rating of 5 are required.
