About This Role
BAE Systems is seeking a Tornado Simulator Instructor Pilot/WSO in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, to provide training to Royal Saudi Air Force Tornado pilots, weapons system operators and instructors. The role supports BAE Systems' UK Government-nominated prime-contractor programme in Saudi Arabia and combines ground school, continuation training, simulator mission delivery, evaluation support and instructor-qualification activities. All appointments in Saudi Arabia are subject to the necessary Government and/or Customer approvals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The instructor will conduct ground school for all RSAF Tornado courses and deliver continuation-training lectures and other training based on operational requirements for aircrew. The role may include selection as a Standardisation Evaluation flight examiner for simulator and other ground evaluations, as well as acting as a subject-matter expert on associated duties when required. Academic instruction covers flight planning using normal and advanced equipment, including FDL and TAMPA, aircraft systems, subsystems and displays, and instructional methodology and technique. Simulator duties include briefing, conducting and debriefing all missions
- planning every phase of flight for successful mission execution, including tactics and employment options and techniques
- operating associated simulators and cockpit trainers, including egress training
- and training selected RSAF personnel to become qualified simulator instructors.

Requirements
- Essential requirements are experience as a Tornado flight-lead Pilot/Weapons System Operator, more than 250 hours of previous instructor time in any fighter aircraft, and more than 1,000 hours of total fighter time as a combat-ready Pilot/Weapon System Operator.
- Applicants must also be graduates of the RAF Academic Instructor Course or an equivalent programme.
- Desirable qualifications include additional professional military aviation qualifications such as supervisory/authorisation, flight or formation lead, weapons instructor, aviation safety and human factors qualifications.
