About This Role
This permanent, full-time British Airways role supports the airline’s Approved Training Organisation as a Flight Technical Trainer and Theoretical Knowledge Instructor for Airbus training. The instructor will deliver aircraft-specific technical, procedural and performance instruction, primarily through ground-school and simulator-based learning, translating complex aircraft and regulatory concepts into practical operational understanding. The role contributes to pilot development, examination success, safe line operations, learner progression and continued compliance with UK CAA and ATO standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and deliver Airbus aircraft-specific technical, procedural and performance training, primarily in a simulator-based environment.
- Deliver technical ground school and simulator-based instruction in line with British Airways ATO standards and UK CAA requirements, ensuring that content follows approved regulatory syllabi, BA standard operating procedures and current operational practice.
- Create, administer and oversee examinations, assessments and progress tests in accordance with ATO standards.
- Monitor learner performance, identify performance trends, and provide timely feedback, intervention or escalation when required.
- Maintain accurate, compliant and auditable learner and training records.
- Support instructor standardisation and continuous professional development so that approved instructional techniques, behaviours and assessment standards are applied consistently.

Requirements
- Candidates should have a strong understanding of Approved Training Organisation requirements, UK CAA and Part-FCL requirements, and theoretical knowledge compliance standards, with the ability to turn regulatory and competency frameworks into practical and scalable training solutions.
- The role requires strong technical knowledge of Airbus aircraft systems and their operational application, proficiency with CAE Pelesys, Quantum and LMS learning technologies, and the ability to introduce lean, automated processes that improve training efficiency and quality.
- Applicants should be capable of analysing training performance data, examination outcomes, operational trends and safety insights to support curriculum redesign.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills are required to work effectively with instructors, subject-matter experts, training leaders and regulatory bodies, simplify complex concepts and present clear recommendations.
- Essential experience includes delivering technical systems and theoretical knowledge as part of aircraft type ratings, together with experience as a commercial pilot, flight engineer, licensed engineer, flight operations officer or someone with an equivalent aeronautical engineering background.
