About This Role
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking a Test Pilot for its Engineering department in Mobile, Alabama. The role is responsible for the safe and proper execution of ground and flight testing on A220 and A320 production aircraft, including flight leadership, adherence to authorized test plans, real-time operational decision-making, post-flight technical coordination, and customer-facing delivery activities. The position is fully onsite and may also support training, external and developmental flights, other Airbus flight-test centers, and industry conferences.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Test Pilot is responsible for the entire flight, including signing the flight order prepared and co-signed by the L-FTE. Under DOA privilege and by delegation of the Head of Flight Test, the Captain approves flight conditions according to Airbus procedures and strictly follows the authorized flight-test plan. During flight, the L-FTE may modify the plan with the Captain's concurrence when required by real-time flight analysis, instrumentation issues, changing weather, or aircraft serviceability, provided the authorized flight envelope and aircraft limitations are respected
- the Captain retains the right to delete unsuitable items from the Flight Order. Responsibilities also include attending post-flight technical debriefs, working with Engineering to resolve faults and observations from approved test flights, and ensuring all ground and in-flight arrangements are made for safe and efficient operations, including briefings coordinated with the I-FTE and dispatch. The role involves continuous customer engagement during the delivery process and customer-focused communication of Airbus-approved positions on industry issues and flight-test matters. The pilot may additionally assist Training departments, conduct external flights such as lease-recovery, developmental, and commercial-event flights, provide short-term support to flight-test centers in Toulouse, Hamburg, Tianjin, and Mirabel, and attend or present at conferences.

Requirements
- Applicants must be graduates of an EASA-recognized flight-test school, including ETPS, EPNER, USNTPS, USAFTPS, NTPS, or ITPS, and must have more than 3,000 total flight hours and more than 1,000 hours of flight-test pilot experience.
- The role requires a current multi-pilot instrument rating and ICAO ATPL eligible for conversion to an EASA ATPL, ICAO English Level 5, and recent Fly-By-Wire experience.
- Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and consensus-building skills, be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and be dependable, self-motivated, and accessible.
- The position requires international travel without accompaniment for approximately three months, flexibility to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, and current authorization to work in the United States.
- Applicants must also be able to meet the stated onsite, communication, mobility, lifting, equipment-operation, travel, and personal protective equipment requirements, including carrying and lifting items up to 30 lb/14 kg and using safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators or masks, and protective gloves as required.
