About This Role
2Excel Aviation is seeking a Prestwick-based Captain for its Special Missions division, supporting a next-generation Search and Rescue contract delivered for UK Government and industry customers. The Captain will operate King Air B350 aircraft on varied day and night surveillance and SAR missions across the UK and neighbouring States, working alongside a First Officer and an onboard Sensor Operator. The role offers a stable four-on, four-off roster and includes structured training, with accommodation and allowances provided during the training period.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Captain will help deliver 24/7/365 specialist aviation services from the Special Missions division, flying King Air B350 aircraft on day and night shifts with a multi-pilot First Officer and a Sensor Operator.
- Duties include conducting specialist surveillance tasks within the UK and neighbouring States, supporting life-saving Search and Rescue missions across the UK, and ensuring the aircraft remains mission-ready for critical deployments.
- The role involves varied and challenging flying rather than routine point-to-point transport, with the Captain's operational expertise contributing directly to the protection of lives in emergency situations.

Requirements
- Applicants must hold a Class 1 medical and a UK CPL or ATPL with Instrument Rating. The required experience is at least 1,500 total flying hours, including 750 hours PIC, 100 hours instrument time and 100 hours night flying, plus at least 100 hours on King Air Series aircraft or an equivalent aircraft type at the discretion of the Director of Flight Operations. Relevant experience in a similar military, police or coastguard setting is desirable, as is proven experience leading pilots or managing operations from a forward operating base. A current King Air 350 type rating is highly desirable but is not essential because training will be provided. Applicants must also already hold, or be able to obtain, UK Security Clearance and must hold a valid UK Driving Licence. The position is immediately available, training starts as soon as possible, and most training will be conducted at Humberside. Candidates who do not hold a current King Air 350 type rating may need to spend up to three weeks away from home in a simulator
- training costs are estimated at £20,000 and are subject to a two-year repayment bond that reduces by 25% every six months.
