About This Role
CAE Australia is seeking a Simulator Pilot Instructor / Lead Instructor to deliver KC-30A MRTT aircrew training at RAAF Base Amberley. The role supports safe, effective, and compliant simulator-based training under RAAF AIT and CAE standards, maintains simulator instructor authorisation through the Commanding Officer of RAAF CFS, and contributes to a collaborative, high-performing instructional team. The position is on-site and supports Australian defence and security operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver simulator-based pilot instruction for the KC-30A MRTT in accordance with RAAF AIT and CAE training standards.
- Maintain authorisation as a competent Simulator Pilot Instructor as approved by the Commanding Officer of RAAF CFS.
- Conduct aircrew training activities in line with approved syllabi, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide clear and effective instruction, assessment, and feedback to trainees in a professional learning environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in training delivery, safety, and instructional quality.
- Work collaboratively within a high-performing instructional and operational team while upholding CAE values, safety standards, and professional conduct at all times.

Requirements
- Required qualifications include possession of, or the ability to obtain, the qualifications needed to be authorised as a competent Simulator Pilot Instructor by the Commanding Officer of RAAF CFS under RAAF AIT standards for the KC-30A MRTT.
- Candidates must hold, or be able to obtain, a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or have recognised equivalent experience.
- Applicants need at least two years of Military Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) or Operational Flying Instructor (OFI) experience in an aircrew training environment, or a military equivalent, unless they meet one of the listed alternatives: at least 1,000 command hours on a military air-to-air refuelling aircraft, at least 1,000 hours as first pilot on an Airbus aircraft, or previous qualification as a KC-30A MRTT Captain.
- A minimum civilian Grade 2 instructor rating is also required, together with at least one of those same experience alternatives.
- Candidates must be Australian citizens and able to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, effective teamwork, and the demonstrated ability to uphold CAE values are required.
- Preferred qualifications include leadership experience in aviation training, previous Military QFI or OFI experience on the KC-30A MRTT, a current or previous Military QFI or OFI rating or civil equivalent with at least 500 hours in airborne instruction and training roles, and flight simulator instructor experience.
