About This Role
Part-time (0.6 FTE) Simulator Pilot Instructor role with CAE Australia, based at RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland, supporting C-27J Spartan pilot training for the Australian Defence Force. The instructor delivers simulator instruction to C-27J pilot students across the Spartan Pilot Initial Qualification (PIQ) Course, secondary upgrade courses and continuation training, conducts mission briefs and debriefs, engages with simulator maintenance technicians on identified issues, and contributes to developing and improving training material. The role suits experienced military flying instructors with substantial command time on multi-engine tactical transport aircraft.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The instructor is responsible to the C-27J Key Account Manager and reports to the C-27J Lead Instructor, providing training, administrative and subject-matter-expertise support for the Spartan Pilot Initial Qualification (PIQ) Course, secondary upgrade courses and continuation training, while liaising with other resident instructional staff.
- Duties include conducting mission briefs and debriefs, delivering simulator instruction to C-27J pilot students, engaging with simulator maintenance technicians to report identified simulator issues, and contributing to the development and continuous improvement of training material that supports syllabus delivery.
- The role is based at RAAF Base Amberley, QLD, on a part-time (0.6 FTE) basis.

Requirements
- A minimum of two years' experience as a Military Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) or Operational Flying Instructor within an aircrew training environment is required.
- Candidates must have a minimum of 1,000 command (pilot-in-command) hours on multi-engine, multi-crew, tactical transport aircraft such as the C-27J, C-130J or similar types.
- Prior experience as a flight simulator instructor is highly regarded.
- Applicants must hold, or have the ability to obtain, a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment, or demonstrate recognised equivalent experience.
