About This Role
National Jet Systems, part of the Qantas Group, is seeking permanent full-time A220 Simulator Instructor and Simulator Examiner personnel in Melbourne as it expands its Airbus A220 fleet. The role trains NJS flight crew in fixed-base and full-flight simulators for CASR Part 121 and Part 142 operations, supports training-material development and maintenance, and contributes to safe, compliant and effective airline training across Australia and other locations, including overseas facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Simulator Examiner will lead and conduct pilot training in fixed-base and full-flight simulators in accordance with the applicable Training and Checking Manual, Part 142 Exposition requirements and CASA licensing approval. Duties include conducting ground-school and other training activities
- producing and reviewing type-rating, Operational Conversion and recurrent-training programs
- monitoring training standards and compliance with company manuals and CASA legislation
- identifying and correcting procedures that improve the safe operation of Qantas Group aircraft
- and assisting with redevelopment of training and procedures manuals to maintain regulatory compliance. The role also involves professional-development activities, building trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating leadership and collaboration, and undertaking duties at other training facilities, including overseas locations.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold a valid A220 type rating, an Australian CASA ATPL, significant experience in simulator instruction and/or checking, and valid Australian working rights.
- A Simulator Instructor Rating and/or Flight Examiner Rating is preferred.
- Candidates should have high professional and personal standards, strong written and verbal interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership and coaching or mentoring ability, and the ability to participate in working groups.
- The role requires the ability to develop expert knowledge of company SOPs, the aircraft and equipment operated by Qantas, airline flying operations, regulatory delegations, CASA requirements, quality-management principles, and human factors and non-technical skills.
- Applicants must meet the NJS Training and Checking Manual and Part 142 Exposition requirements as applicable, and have appropriate adult-education experience or a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Learning or equivalent.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word, internet access, and the ability to receive company information electronically are also required.
