About This Role
Jet Linx Aviation is recruiting a full-time Second in Command (SIC) for a Challenger 605 heavy jet based in Austin, Texas, supporting Part 91 and 135 flight operations. The SIC reports directly to the Base Chief Pilot and helps prepare and ensure the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft in accordance with the Federal Aviation Regulations and company procedures. Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to the base area and meet a two-hour call-out expectation from the home base; the position requires 2,500 hours total time, including specified PIC, multi-engine, turbine and instrument experience, as well as an unrestricted ATP and first-class medical. The posting also calls for company communications, EFB and chart/manual upkeep, travel and work-authorization eligibility, drug testing, the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, education and physical capability, with recent 142 training in type preferred. Starting base pay is $135,000 to $170,000 annually, with health, retirement, paid-time-off, life and disability benefits.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Second in Command reports directly to the Base Chief Pilot and helps prepare and ensure the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft under the Federal Aviation Regulations and company procedures. The SIC manages duty, flight and rest times to the requirements of both the company and CFRs
- maintains communication with the company for standby-duty assignments, trip notifications, position calls and pre- and post-flight reports
- maintains and manages electronic flight bag (EFB) hardware and applications
- and ensures navigation charts, publications and company manuals are current. The role also requires maintaining a current first-class medical certificate, conveying strong, proactive decision-making skills and demonstrating Jet Linx's core values in all interactions.

Requirements
- Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to the Austin base area and be able to live within a two-hour call-out time of their home base. Minimum requirements are 2,500 hours total time, including 500 hours total PIC, 500 hours total multi-engine, 100 hours total turbine and 150 hours total instrument time. Initial or recurrent 142 training in type within the last 24 months is preferred. The position requires an unrestricted ATP, a current first-class medical certificate, an FCC Restricted Radio License, a current passport, proof of eligibility to work in the United States, and the ability to obtain a U.S. driver's license. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen and submit to random drug/alcohol testing when required
- safety-sensitive personnel are subject to pre-employment testing for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine (PCP) and amphetamines. They must have unrestricted ability to travel to all EU, Canada and Caribbean countries, release and pass an FAA Pilot Record Database review with a System Chief Pilot, and work nights, weekends and holidays. A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required. Most work is performed in and around aircraft and aircraft terminals, and the role requires moving up to 50 pounds frequently.
