About This Role
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Senior Ground Flight Instructor to deliver aviation theory training and subject-matter advice for the AIR 5428 Pilot Training System in support of the Australian Defence Force pilot workforce. Based in the Bullsbrook/Pearce, Western Australia area, the role supports classroom instruction, courseware development and evaluation, student assessment, and liaison with the ADF flying school executive team. The opportunity is subject to contract award, with ideal commencement in January 2027.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide classroom instruction in aviation subjects and ground-school training for the AIR 5428 Pilot Training System.
- Support the design of new programmes and deliver instruction across aircraft systems, operating procedures, emergency procedures, troubleshooting, navigation, aerodynamics, radio communications, ADF air regulations, and ADF policies.
- Evaluate training materials, administer and score tests, maintain class records, assess and report student proficiency, and provide student counselling when required.
- Support the development of new training methods, techniques, and aids to improve efficiency, and liaise with the ADF flying school executive team.

Requirements
- Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain the Australian Government Defence security clearance required for the position.
- Candidates should have experience delivering aviation instruction, flight theory, pilot training, ground school training, or equivalent transferable experience.
- The role requires the ability to understand and explain training plans, communicate effectively with students of different technical backgrounds, simplify complex subjects such as aerodynamics and aircraft systems, produce and edit technical material, use Microsoft Office 365, and travel interstate.
- Desirable qualifications and experience include Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, formal teaching qualifications or extensive aviation or military ground-instruction experience, knowledge of ADF learning methodologies, learning-management systems such as Moodle, aviation theory knowledge up to ATPL level, and knowledge of Aviation Non-Technical Skills.
