About This Role
TransMedics is seeking a Senior Certified Flight Instructor in Bozeman to provide classroom and flight training, evaluate student proficiency, monitor progress, maintain instructor qualifications and training records, and support the Chief Instructor and Assistant Chief Instructor. The role includes student scheduling, stage checks, check-ride coordination, curriculum development, aircraft condition monitoring, safety reporting, regulatory compliance, and progression toward greater managerial responsibility.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach students in classroom settings and conduct training flights in accordance with the approved Training Course Outline and Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Assess student proficiency, conduct stage checks, initiate stage-check requests, schedule check rides with Designated Pilot Examiners, maintain student training records, logbooks, computer records, and required course paperwork, and schedule students to support satisfactory and timely course completion.
- Explain risk management, aircraft systems, operating procedures, emergency handling, problem analysis, navigation, radio operation, and aerodynamics.
- Handle prospective-student inquiries, schedule flights, conduct facility tours, explain Summit Aviation policies and flight-training courses, perform IACRA associations, monitor training-aircraft maintenance condition, report safety concerns and incidents, recommend curriculum improvements, develop courseware, maintain FAR Part 141 Operations Specifications, adjust schedules for maintenance, and assist the Chief Instructor and Assistant Chief Instructor with assigned duties.
- The position has no daily management responsibilities but may progress into a more managerial role.

Requirements
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, an FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate, and a current FAA Medical Certificate.
- Candidates need practical knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, Fundamentals of Instruction, Practical Test Standards, aircraft systems, and aerodynamics.
- The role requires the ability to meet FAA SODA vision standards, lift up to 100 pounds, work nights, holidays, weekends, and occasional evenings, travel frequently, and work in varied weather conditions while following safety policies and procedures.
