About This Role
Wells Enterprises seeks an experienced Senior Captain to operate their Citation XLS+ aircraft in a Part 91 corporate flight environment based in Le Mars, Iowa. The successful candidate will serve as Pilot-in-Command with full authority over flight operations and passenger safety, while also mentoring junior crew members. This position requires a minimum of 4000 total flight hours with 2000 hours multi-engine time, 500 hours turbine experience, and an ATP certificate with Citation type rating. The role demands exceptional leadership, safety focus, and customer service skills to serve executive-level clientele on worldwide missions. Candidates must be able to maintain a flexible on-call schedule and live within one hour of Le Mars, Iowa.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as Pilot-in-Command with final authority for aircraft operation and passenger safety
- Plan and execute flights in compliance with FAA regulations and company SOPs
- Perform comprehensive flight planning including routing, fuel optimization, and weather analysis
- Evaluate flight conditions and make decisions to delay, reroute, or cancel flights as necessary
- Maintain situational awareness and exercise sound judgment during all flight phases
- Ensure aircraft is airworthy and properly maintained
- Conduct and oversee preflight inspections
- Maintain compliance with FARs, NOTAMs, and operational limitations
- Ensure all required documentation and paperwork are accurate and complete
- Work effectively in a Co-Captain environment and act as mentor and trainer
- Promote effective Crew Resource Management (CRM) practices
- Deliver exceptional customer service to passengers
- Coordinate passenger requests including transportation, catering, and baggage handling
- Ensure passengers receive required safety briefings
- Maintain aircraft cleanliness and cabin readiness
- Assist with aircraft towing, fueling, cleaning, and hangar upkeep
- Maintain hangar facilities
- Participate in recurrent and company-required training
- Support Safety Management Systems (SMS)
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Aviation preferred
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate required
- Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating required
- Type rating in Citation XLS+ (CE560XL) preferred
- Current FAA First-Class Medical Certificate
- Valid passport with ability to travel internationally
- Minimum 4000 total flight hours
- Minimum 2000 hours multi-engine time
- Minimum 500 hours turbine time
- Minimum 10 years of flight experience
- Safety officer experience or equivalent for minimum 1 year
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) pertaining to corporate flight operations
- Ability to pass instrument competency check in Citation aircraft
- Meet all currency requirements for instrument flight time and night landings
- Strong safety orientation and SMS program knowledge
- Ability to work flexible on-call schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to live within commutable distance (one hour) of Le Mars, IA
- Ability to travel worldwide without restriction
