About This Role
Advanced Air, LLC — an FAA Part 135 on-demand air carrier headquartered in Hawthorne, California, operating turboprops, business jets and regional passenger jets across more than 12 communities in the southwestern United States — is hiring a Second in Command (First Officer) on the Cessna Citation CJ3, based in Hawthorne, CA. The role supports the company's on-demand charter operations, assisting the Pilot-in-Command through all phases of flight while carrying primary operational responsibility for the customer-service side of each leg. The SIC reports to the Chief Pilot and, in the Chief Pilot's absence, to the Director of Operations. Applicants must hold all required flight minimums and certifications, live within two hours of their base airport, and make an 18-month commitment to the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform a visual pre- and post-flight walk-around inspection before and after each flight.
- Assist the Pilot-in-Command during all phases of flight in accordance with operating policies and procedures, and assume primary responsibility for the safety of passengers, crew, cargo and aircraft should the PIC become incapacitated or unable to perform.
- Review and brief the PIC on all customer-service items — including passenger pick-up/drop-off, refueling, customs, private-hangar pick-up/drop-off, private-hangar communications requirements and passenger catering — and take primary operational responsibility for completing the customer-service portions of each leg as outlined in the P&P manual.
- Comply with all Federal Aviation Regulations, the Company Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures and company policies.
- Update flight and duty records, determine eligibility for the next flight assignment, and ensure aircraft maintenance discrepancies are reported to the Captain and logged per operating policy.
- Proactively participate in the safety and quality systems by identifying, reporting and mitigating hazards and quality issues, and perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the PIC.

Requirements
- Minimum qualifications: a high-school diploma or GED
- an ATP certificate with a multi-engine rating
- 2,500 hours total flight time
- and 500 hours multi-engine land. Candidates must have passed an oral/written examination administered by an FAA-approved Advanced Air Check Airman (or a representative of the Administrator) within the preceding 12 calendar months per FAR 135.293(a)
- completed a competency check in the type of airplane within the preceding 12 calendar months per FAR 135.293(b)
- completed the 6-month IFR proficiency check per FAR 135.297
- and completed an enroute check demonstrating enroute, arrival and departure procedures per FAR 135.299. Physical demands include working in confined spaces
- manipulating, pushing, pulling and lifting heavy objects in excess of 150 lbs
- climbing onto and off of an aircraft wing during preflight, postflight or an over-wing emergency exit
- digital dexterity for pre/postflight
- and the ability to fly legs of up to 4.5 hours and up to 10 total flight hours per day within a 14-hour duty period. Candidates must live within two hours of their base airport and commit to Advanced Air for 18 months.
