About This Role
Gulfstream is seeking a Production Test Pilot for its Dallas operation. Under the direction of the Chief Production Test Pilot and/or Senior Production Test Pilot, the role evaluates production aircraft, engines, avionics, and related systems against design and performance specifications and FAA airworthiness standards. The pilot performs initial, acceptance, customer, used-aircraft, and post-maintenance test flights; supports FAA Certificate of Airworthiness checks; debriefs engineering and manufacturing personnel; and provides company and customer flight training. The full-time first-shift position includes up to 50% travel and also supports sales demonstrations and technology briefings.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Chief Production Test Pilot and/or Senior Production Test Pilot, conduct initial flight tests of Gulfstream aircraft and acceptance testing of production aircraft to functionally evaluate the airframe, engines, and avionics and confirm compliance with FAA Certificate of Airworthiness standards.
- Debrief engineering and manufacturing personnel on ground and flight discrepancies and provide technical assistance to resolve problems.
- Represent Gulfstream during FAA Certificate of Airworthiness flight checks.
- Conduct test flights of customer aircraft after initial outfitting, modifications for the next certification level, and Service Center maintenance.
- Evaluate used aircraft being sold or traded in to determine airworthiness and compliance with current production-aircraft functional standards.
- Conduct customer pilot-training flights as needed, and provide ground and flight instruction to company and customer crews on new aircraft products, installed systems, and new or upgraded appliances.
- Support Sales and Marketing through technology briefings in the ITF and local sales-demonstration flights, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a technically related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- seven years of flight experience
- the ability to maintain an FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate
- and an FAA Airline Transport Pilot license (ATP/ATPL) or the ability to attain ATP/ATPL. Previous flight-test or maintenance-test-pilot experience is required. The applicant must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Previous Gulfstream experience with GVII and/or G280 type ratings, a CFI certificate, and Functional Test Pilot experience are preferred. Previous Gulfstream aircraft experience is desired but not required.
