About This Role
Cirrus Aircraft is seeking a Production Flight Test Pilot Staff member in Duluth, Minnesota, to conduct flight tests on newly manufactured or modified aircraft. The role evaluates aircraft performance, systems, handling, stability, functionality, and safety against Type Design, FAA, and Cirrus Design quality requirements. The pilot will make safe go/no-go decisions, collect and document flight-test data, identify anomalies, support engineering and production teams, and may train other test pilots.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preflight inspections, weight-and-balance computations, and performance calculations to establish aircraft readiness. Assess weather, aircraft status, and other factors before making safe go/no-go decisions under Cirrus Flight Test safety policies. Pilot aircraft through planned tests covering system operation, performance, handling, and stability. Observe, record, measure, and operate test instruments and equipment

Provide information to technicians troubleshooting aircraft or system anomalies, complete all paperwork governing the role, follow Cirrus safety policies and required personal protective equipment procedures, assist or explain duties to others, and provide initial or recurrent training to other test pilots when assigned. Perform other duties as assigned and work beyond 40 hours per week when required.

Requirements
- Applicants must have a minimum of 1,500 hours of PIC flight time and possess an FAA Commercial or ATP pilot's license with airplane single-engine and instrument ratings.
- A valid First- or Second-Class Medical is required.
- A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred, while seven or more years of engineering or aircraft A&P mechanic experience is preferred.
- The posting also values experience in a variety of high-performance aircraft, with aerobatic, tailwheel, military flight, aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar technical experience considered advantageous or highly desirable.
- A CFI/CFII is desired.
- Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team, work weekends or changing shifts when production requires, pilot non-pressurized aircraft to high altitude, travel occasionally overnight and internationally, and hold or obtain a passport.
