About This Role
Perimeter Aviation is recruiting a Medevac First Officer to operate medical evacuation flights from its Canadian network. Reporting to the 703/704 Chief Pilot, the First Officer supports the Captain in safe and efficient flight operations, passenger comfort and on-time performance, while working closely with medical personnel, other crew members and flight followers. The role requires current aviation knowledge, strong aircraft mechanical understanding, active participation in the company Safety Management System and a commitment to progressing toward a future Captain position. The position may involve remote-base assignments, extended travel, outdoor work and accommodation in a company-arranged residence during scheduled shifts.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct flights in strict accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, Canadian Aviation Regulations, the Aircraft Flight Manual and the Company Operations Manual.
- Assist the Pilot-in-Command with management and operation of the flight, including executing all cockpit procedures.
- Fuel the aircraft and complete a thorough pre-flight aircraft inspection on behalf of the Captain.
- Lift, load and secure patients, cargo, baggage and freight, and assist the medical crew when required and appropriate.
- Brief passengers according to the requirements in the Standard Operating Procedures and complete post-flight aircraft inspections.
- Work closely and maintain constant communication with the crew and flight followers so that Medevac transfers are performed efficiently and effectively.
- Continue improving flying skills and aircraft knowledge with the goal of eventually assuming a Captain position, actively participate in the company's Safety Management System, maintain and exceed Transport Canada qualification standards and perform additional duties as assigned.
What We Offer
When on a scheduled shift, accommodation is arranged in a residence at the assigned remote base.Bases may change according to operational requirements.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a Commercial Pilot License, a Category 1 Medical, a current Group 1 Instrument Rating and a minimum of 500 hours total flight time. They must be fluent in English and demonstrate effective verbal communication, listening comprehension and written communication skills. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or have unrestricted authorization to work in Canada, and must be able to obtain and maintain applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations. A Child Abuse Registry check and Criminal Record check are required, along with thorough knowledge of aviation regulations, a valid passport and a valid driver's licence. Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training is considered an asset.
