About This Role
CymSTAR is hiring a full-time Pilot Instructor in La Vista, Nebraska, to provide aircraft systems and operational procedures instruction in aircraft, classroom, simulator, and other training environments. The role supports E-4B training, curriculum and courseware development, student and instructor evaluation, remedial instruction, training-program administration, safety and quality activities, and compliance with government training standards. The position requires prior E-4B operating or instructional experience, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide pilot procedures, aircraft systems, operational procedures, CRM, IRC, classroom, simulator, aircraft, and other-platform instruction. Evaluate, diagnose, and critique student performance
- identify learning difficulties and unmet objectives
- prescribe and conduct remedial instruction
- conduct ground training for other crewmembers
- counsel trainees
- monitor progress
- and maintain gradebooks and training records. Assist with developing, editing, updating, and reviewing courseware, curricula, training profiles, classroom lessons, policies, procedures, and new course material. Maintain proficiency in Aircrew Training Devices and simulated instrument, take-off, landing, and emergency procedures
- evaluate instructors when required
- conduct biennial observation flights in MEP status when required
- and support periodic testing, government evaluations, open- and closed-book examinations, and device-based flight evaluations. Perform scheduling, quality assurance, safety, security, publications, FCIF, equipment and training-program maintenance, project-development, and other administrative duties. Mentor trainee pilots, provide constructive feedback, collaborate with other instructors, promote a positive learning environment, and help trainees achieve flight-certification goals. The role may involve approximately 10–20% travel for training sessions, conferences, and client or partner activities, with a standard Monday-to-Friday 40-hour workweek and occasional overtime or weekend work.
Requirements
- Candidates must have either prior qualification as an E-4B aircraft commander with 1,000 hours of E-4B flight experience and graduation from a formal instructor course, or prior E-4B instructor-pilot qualification with 200 hours of instructor experience.
- Aerial Refueling instructors must have previously held E-4B Aerial Refueling instructor qualification.
- The posting also requires a valid pilot's license with the necessary ratings and endorsements, prior flight-instruction or similar experience, knowledge of aviation regulations, flight operations, and instructional methods, strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and teamwork skills, and proficiency with flight-simulation technology and instructional tools.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance are required.
- Candidates must be able to conduct instruction for up to six hours per day, enter and exit aircraft and simulators under government and OSHA standards, maintain simulated instrument, take-off, landing, and emergency-procedure proficiency, pass periodic government examinations and flight evaluations, and meet the stated physical, attendance, technology, professionalism, and company-policy requirements.
