About This Role
FlightSafety International, the world's premier professional aviation training company and supplier of full-flight simulators and visual systems to commercial, government and military organizations, is hiring a Pilot Instructor at Altus AFB, Oklahoma. The role delivers ground-based training to C-17 pilots — the description also references KC-46 systems and tanker/receiver operations — instructing and measuring the training progress of crewmembers who train within the established Training System (TS) curriculum. The instructor serves as a Subject Matter Expert on aircraft systems and operating procedures and works across Initial, Upgrade, Requalification, and Refresher training. This is a US military training contract position requiring an active SECRET security clearance and U.S. Person eligibility under ITAR/EAR export-control rules.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct all Initial, Upgrade, Requalification, and Refresher training using devices such as the classroom, Pilot Part Task Trainer (PTTP), Boom Operator Part Task Trainer (PTTB), Boom Operator Trainer (BOT), Fuselage Trainer (FuT), Weapon System Trainer (WST), and KC-46 aircraft.
- Conduct additional ground-based training for aircrew members in tanker and receiver operating procedures, including diagnosing and remediating student problems.
- Deliver Initial and Recurring training for maintenance personnel attending Engine Run courses.
- Conduct briefings, debriefings, and counseling with aircrew and maintenance personnel to build and maintain student technical acumen and proficiency.
- Extract and analyze student data and prepare for student review sessions.
- Serve as a Pilot Subject Matter Expert (SME) for students and other personnel.
- Maintain exceptional standards of instruction and expert knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures, consistently applying instructional principles and theories for aircrew training systems.
- Provide inputs for courseware corrections and modifications and updates to training policies and procedures, operate the Student Management System, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree required. Experience: eight (8) years of flying experience, five (5) of which as a C-17 pilot with airdrop and aerial refueling experience, or the ability to obtain an AMC/A3TK waiver
- two (2) years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience in airdrop, aerial refueling, and tactics. Recent C-17 flight simulator pilot instructor experience and CATS MECOC certification are desired. Must possess an active SECRET Security Clearance. Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English and clearly relay information verbally and in writing, including presenting information and responding to questions from customers. Working knowledge of instructional principles and theories pertaining to Training Systems, and of personal computers and software applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases). Must successfully accomplish annual internal standardization evaluations. Position requires U.S. Person status under ITAR/EAR and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
