About This Role
Ground-based pilot instructor role at FlightSafety International, delivering C-17 pilot training (air drop, aerial refueling/transport procedures) using the Weapon System Trainer (WST), the C-17 aircraft, and Computer-Based Trainers at Elmendorf AFB, AK. Instructor flies the WST and occasionally rides the airplane in observer status to maintain currency.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conducts ground-based training of C-17 pilots using devices such as the Weapon System Trainer (WST), the C-17 aircraft, and Computer-Based Trainers (CBT) in air drop, aerial refueling/transport operating procedures, including diagnosis and remediation of student problems. Conducts briefings and debriefings
  • counsels pilots and Maintenance Engine Run personnel. Performs administrative training duties (record keeping, monitoring student progress, courseware corrections). Flies the WST and flies on the airplane in observer status (as required) to maintain currency. Performs Learning Center monitor, safety, security, and HAZMAT representative duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum Experience: Eight (8) years flying experience, five (5) years of which as a C-17 pilot with air drop and aerial refueling experience, or able to obtain an AMC/A3TK waiver.
  • Two (2) years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience in air drop, aerial refueling, and tactics.
  • Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Successfully accomplish annual internal standardization evaluations.
  • Possess an active SECRET Security Clearance.
