About This Role
Ornge, Ontario's air ambulance and critical care transport provider, is recruiting a permanent full-time PC-12 EMS Captain for its fixed-wing medevac operation. The Captain is responsible for all aspects of aircraft operation, including crew and passenger safety, flying in varying weather conditions within a demanding 24/7 emergency-response environment across Ontario, Canada. The role requires handling pressure well, flexibility and adaptability, and strict adherence to all applicable policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Because Ornge aircraft are province-wide resources, aviation personnel may be assigned to provide flight support at bases other than their home base when demand arises. All Ornge pilots must complete the company's training programme and successfully pass a PPC/IFT check conducted by a Transport Canada Inspector or Approved Check Pilot.
Duties & Responsibilities
- PC-12 EMS Captains are responsible for all aspects of aircraft operation, including the safety of crew and passengers.
- They must be able to fly in varying conditions, handle pressure well, and remain flexible and adaptable.
- They are responsible for following all applicable policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- As Ornge aircraft are province-wide resources, pilots may be required to provide flight support at bases other than their home base where demand arises.
- Pilots work various shifts (standard 12 hours) plus overtime, including day and night shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays in a 24/7 environment, and are occasionally required to overnight away from their home base.
- All pilots must complete the company training programme and pass a PPC/IFT check conducted by a Transport Canada Inspector or Approved Check Pilot.

Requirements
- Candidates must hold a valid Canadian ATPL issued by Transport Canada, a valid Group 1 IFR rating, and a valid Category 1 Medical certificate.
- A minimum of 2,000 hours total flight experience is required, including at least 500 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
- Applicants must hold a valid Canadian passport or otherwise be able to work in Canada, and must have unrestricted ability to travel to the USA.
- A satisfactory criminal record check and an immunization record with the required vaccinations are also required.
- Prior PC-12, EMS, and/or Northern Ontario flight experience is considered an asset.
- Successful candidates must live or be willing to relocate within close proximity to the assigned base, reside in a location that permits compliance with CARs rest requirements between shifts, and be able to reach the assigned base within 1.0 hour of callout when on an on-call shift.
- Employees may be required to use respiratory protective equipment and must be clean shaven to ensure an effective facial seal.
