About This Role
ConocoPhillips Global Aviation Services is recruiting a North Slope Chief Pilot for its corporate flight department, based at the Alpine facility on Alaska's North Slope and worked on a rotating one-week-on/one-week-off shift schedule in a remote arctic environment. Reporting to the Manager & Director of Operations, Alaska Aviation, the role is the primary management focal point for supervising and managing North Slope turboprop flight operations, with direct supervisory responsibility for all assigned North Slope-based pilots, ensuring the safe, compliant, reliable and efficient transport of ConocoPhillips Alaska passengers and freight. The Chief Pilot serves as the single point of contact for North Slope aviation personnel and for aviation issues with the on-slope operations teams, and also performs regular flying duties as pilot-in-command on at least one of the company's North Slope turboprop aircraft. ConocoPhillips' Global Aviation Services operates in the contiguous United States and Alaska with a fleet that includes Q400, Gulfstream G550, Cessna Citation, Twin Otter (DHC-6) and Casa 212 aircraft.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide local oversight and guidance for North Slope-based turboprop flight operations, acting as the direct and single point of contact for all North Slope aviation personnel and for all aviation issues with the on-slope operations teams. Proactively maintain and promote the CPAI Aviation safety management system, identifying, reporting and correcting safety hazards and intervening to stop unsafe acts, and manage safety irregularities through the company's Intelex safety database. Manage the aviation surveillance program for North Slope operations and generate, evaluate and share weekly and monthly operational metrics with the wider organization. Work with airstrip operations support teams to resolve aviation-related facility issues. Plan, direct and schedule North Slope pilot work assignments in accordance with federal and state labor laws, the CFRs, company policies and crew duty-limit guidelines. Develop, manage and administer North Slope pilot training programs, including indoctrination, initial/recurrent ground, consolidation, special qualification and ancillary training
- and recruit, evaluate, select and onboard candidates for vacant North Slope pilot positions. Set expectations and SMART goals with subordinates, manage performance and support employee growth and development through mid-year, annual and Individual Development Plan processes. Prepare and administer the North Slope pilot budget, contain and reduce costs, and steward department resources. Oversee documentation of North Slope turboprop policies and procedures in the organizational and department manuals, collaborate with maintenance supervisors and technicians to ensure aircraft airworthiness, and perform regular flying duties with PIC qualification in at least one of the company's North Slope turboprop aircraft.

Requirements
- Basic/required: legally authorized to work in the United States
- a valid passport without restrictions for international travel
- an FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with an airplane multi-engine land rating
- a current/valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- an FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
- and five or more years of aviation industry experience. Minimum flight times required: 3,500 hours of total flight time, 2,000 hours of pilot-in-command time in multi-engine airplanes, and 500 hours in airplanes of similar complexity (turbine-engine powered). Preferred Qualifications
- a bachelor's degree or higher in aviation, aeronautics or a related technical field (or foreign equivalent)
- a current Certificated Flight Instructor rating (CFII, MEI)
- three or more years of aviation leadership experience
- three or more years of experience in an aviation training or standards role
- three or more years of operational experience in an arctic environment
- and intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams). This is a safety-sensitive position.
