About This Role
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), a Christian organisation operating 116 aircraft in 31 countries, is seeking expressions of interest for a Mission Pilot in Western Province, Papua New Guinea. The pilot will provide safe, professional float-plane aviation services in remote and challenging conditions, partnering with local organisations and supporting missions, medical evacuations, essential-supply transport, healthcare, education and community support for isolated villages. The opportunity combines regulated flight operations, aircraft inspections and troubleshooting, navigation, flight and weather records, passenger service, current licences and medicals, continuing training and crew teamwork. Duties & Responsibilities
- As a Float Plane Pilot with MAF, you will plan, organise and conduct flights in compliance with aviation regulations
- carry out thorough pre-flight and post-flight inspections
- inspect the aircraft to identify and resolve mechanical issues before they become problems
- and record flight data, fuel consumption and weather conditions. You will provide a smooth, safe and friendly in-flight service for everyone on board, program, monitor and maintain navigation systems, keep logbooks up to date and complete required paperwork accurately. The role requires you to keep flying qualifications current, meet MAF and national regulations, and keep licences and medical requirements up to date. You will work as part of a dynamic crew to improve operational efficiency, safety and effectiveness, participate in ongoing training and development, and remain flexible to support MAF's overall mission wherever needed.
Requirements
- Essential requirements are an ICAO Commercial Pilot Licence with instrument rating, a Class 1 aviation medical, minimum English proficiency Level 6, a float endorsement, at least 1,000 hours of flight experience and a minimum of 100 hours of turbine PIC time. Candidates must demonstrate aptitude in verbal and numerical reasoning
- proficiency and knowledge in aircraft performance and loading, aerodynamics, aircraft systems, weather, aircraft instrumentation, crew/cockpit resource management, pilot decision-making, and safety and quality systems
- and PNG or remote-area operational experience in commercial aviation. Desirable qualifications and experience include Cessna Caravan experience, a Cessna Caravan Type Rating, a CASA PNG CPL, 1,200+ hours, recent proficiency operating small aircraft to CPL standards, some commercial or corporate aviation experience, IFR operations, and seaplane experience.
