About This Role
Established in 1960, Perimeter Aviation LP is a diversified Canadian company and subsidiary of Exchange Income Corporation with approximately 900 employees and a 45+ aircraft fleet including the Metro 2, 3, 23, Merlin and Dash 8. The company provides scheduled passenger and freight services to Northern Manitoba and Northern Ontario, 24/7 North American charter services, medical evacuation services and a full-service maintenance facility. Reporting to the 703/704 Chief Pilot, the Medevac Captain's priority is to conduct each flight safely while considering on-time performance and passenger comfort, remain current on changing industry regulations and all literature, and develop intimate mechanical knowledge of the aircraft flown. The role depends on constant communication with other crew members, flight followers, the flight dispatcher and medical crew so Medevac transfers are performed efficiently and effectively. Bases include Winnipeg and Thompson, Manitoba, and Sioux Lookout, Timmins, Thunder Bay and Toronto, Ontario; remote-base assignments may change according to operational requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct each flight in strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures, Canadian Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual and Company Operations Manual. Complete preflight calculations, including the Operational Flight Plan, weather, NOTAMs, fuel and oil requirements, weight and balance, signing and accepting the manifest, and Journey Log entries, and ensure the aeroplane pre-flight inspection is complete before each departure. Lift, load and secure patients, cargo, baggage and freight
- assist the medical crew when required and appropriate
- and brief passengers in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure requirements. Complete Type B flight watch jointly with the flight dispatcher and complete Type C flight watch. Complete all post-flight duties, including the post-flight aeroplane inspection, notifying or confirming with the Company the whereabouts of the aeroplane when away from base, and recording flight times and defects. Actively participate in the Company's Safety Management System, continue to meet and exceed Transport Canada Qualification standards for a Pilot, and perform additional duties as assigned.
What We Offer
While on a scheduled shift, accommodation is arranged in a residence at the assigned remote base. The assigned base may change as operational requirements dictatethe role includes travel by aircraft and other means as required and can involve extended travel periods.
Requirements
- Minimum requirements are a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a Commercial Pilot License, a Category 1 Medical, a current Group 1 Instrument Rating, 1500 hours of total flight time with 500 PIC, and an ATPL for 703/704 Medevac Captains. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or have unrestricted ability to work in Canada, be fluent in English, and demonstrate effective verbal and listening comprehension
- they must also obtain and maintain applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations, complete a Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record check, and have thorough knowledge of aviation regulations. A valid passport and valid driver's license are required, while Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training is considered an asset.
