About This Role
SriLankan Airlines’ Junior First Officer Programme offers qualified Sri Lankan pilots a pathway into a professional cockpit career. Candidates train alongside experienced aviation professionals, develop the skills needed to progress toward command, and undergo training through SriLankan Airlines’ Approved Training Organization. The programme requires substantial prior flying experience as well as academic qualifications, English fluency, information-technology exposure, teamwork, and strong interpersonal skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Participants will train alongside experienced aviation professionals and develop the cockpit skills needed to progress toward aircraft command.
- They are also expected to support and sustain a positive working environment that encourages effective team performance.

What We Offer
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to complete training through SriLankan Airlines’ Approved Training Organization. The airline describes this as an investment in the candidate’s professional developmenthowever, the training cost will be recovered through salary deductions over a pre-agreed period, and selected candidates will be bonded to the organization during that period.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold an ATPL issued by the CAASL and a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- They must have at least 3,000 hours of total flying time, including 500 hours on turbine or jet aircraft.
- Applicants must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a recognized university, certified by the University Grants Commission, Sri Lanka, and must be no older than 45 on 21 September 2026.
- The vacancies are restricted to Sri Lankan citizens.
- Exposure to information technology and fluency in English are essential, together with good interpersonal skills and the ability to support a positive work environment that fosters team performance.
- Application documentation includes the completed Junior First Officer application form, NIC, pilot licence, Class 1 Medical Certificate, proof of Multi Engine Rating, and the certified bachelor’s or master’s degree certificate.
