About This Role
CAE is seeking an Instructor Pilot to serve as the ground-based training systems subject-matter expert for the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Civilian Qualified Flying Instructor team. This is a non-flying, courseware-development-focused role supporting the Pilatus PC-21 and Grob 120TP training programs, including technical reviews, training-system design, acceptance testing, and validation and verification activities. The position is remote anywhere in Canada, includes occasional travel to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and is expected to last three to five years while the courseware and integrated training system are completed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the Instructor Pilot subject-matter expert in support of training-program design, including writing and reviewing training plans, publications, IT and software integration requirements, and physical-space designs.
- Design and develop courseware through the complete review cycle for classroom, synthetic-device, and live-flying sequences.
- Provide subject-matter-expert input for acceptance testing of courseware and synthetic training devices.
- Develop policy and procedure documents for the integrated training centre and collaborate with Air Operations and Dispatch on operational policies and procedures.
- Analyze and report on training needs and risks, and support Validation and Verification activities as an RCAF instructional expert.
- Undertake aircraft familiarization training when or if it becomes available.
- The role also involves close collaboration with CAE Qualified Flying Instructors throughout all development phases and participation in the Integrated Product Team and Training Development Team.

Requirements
- Applicants must have experience as an Instructor Pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force or a comparable military training environment, expertise with synthetic training devices and multimedia-supported training, and experience in curriculum design or training program management.
- The role requires familiarity with high-performance, single-engine turboprop trainers such as the Pilatus PC-21 and Grob 120TP, relevant post-secondary education, the ability to obtain and maintain Level I security clearance, and strong collaboration skills when working with Integrated Product Team and Training Development Team members, instructional system designers, and customer stakeholders.
- Candidates must also have 5–8 years of job-related experience within military flight operations and at least five years of leadership experience.
- Preferred qualifications include prior involvement in ground-based training systems design, training-device design or acceptance testing, experience developing flight-operations and dispatch policies and procedures, and interest in potentially transitioning to a Moose Jaw-based Civilian Qualified Flying Instructor role after the project concludes.
