About This Role
Southwest Airlines is seeking an Inflight Learning Instructor in Dallas to prepare Flight Attendants to deliver safe and exceptional travel experiences. The instructor will provide classroom and hands-on training for initial, recurrent, requalification, and special event courses, evaluate participant performance, coach learners, and support curriculum and training-material updates. This full-time regular role is facility-based during business hours and may require travel of up to 50% with occasional overnight stays. The posted salary is $73,600 to $81,800 per year, with flight privileges, retirement contributions, profit-sharing potential, and health coverage available from the first day of employment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver and facilitate learning programs covering both technical and soft skills, including classroom and hands-on training for initial, recurrent, requalification, and special event courses supporting Inflight Operations. Evaluate Flight Attendant performance, provide coaching to class participants and feedback to their respective Leaders, and maintain responsibility for Flight Attendant Training. Serve as a subject matter expert on policies and procedures so Flight Attendants are prepared to respond to onboard emergencies and operate safely. Assist with or lead special projects
- perform administrative tasks such as classroom setup and the duplication and distribution of materials
- and maintain all required paperwork, curriculum, and training materials associated with training programs. Accurately represent training content to Instructors, Business teams, senior leadership, Safety Risk Management, and other Customers. Attend meetings or seminars to obtain information for training programs or to update management on training-program status, support curriculum updates, provide feedback on training materials, partner with operational Teams, and perform other job duties as directed by the employee's Leaders.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required, along with intermediate-level experience and broad knowledge of classroom instruction, facilitation or relevant training, and public speaking. Candidates should understand administrative and clerical procedures, curriculum and training design, teaching and instructional methods, measurement of training effects, classroom management, adult learning principles, and the airline industry. Flight Attendant Certification is required, and the employee must meet all regulatory criteria to obtain and maintain a CREW badge designation, including successful and continuous enrollment in Rap Back. Previous airline Flight Attendant experience, adult learning and instructional delivery experience, flexibility to support multiple training programs and travel as needed, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, iPad or Apple devices, and classroom technology are preferred. The role requires the ability to work from a limited-space workstation or office for extended periods, communicate and interact in English, use computers and office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy, maintain a well-groomed appearance under company standards, comply with attendance standards, and travel up to 50% of the time with occasional overnight stays.
