About This Role
This is a client-employed Hawker 4000 Pilot in Command position in the Kansas City area, based at KIXD and operated under Part 135, with approximately 350 flight hours expected annually. The PIC has final authority for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft and manages flight preparation and execution, crew coordination, risk management, passenger service, regulatory compliance, and safety. Priester Aviation supports recruitment, while the managed-aircraft client conducts the interview and selection process and employs the successful candidate; the role emphasizes leadership, technical expertise, safety, and customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- As Pilot in Command, exercise final authority over the safe operation of the aircraft on every assigned flight and comply with FAA regulations, flight-operations manuals, and standard operating procedures. Conduct complete pre-flight planning, including weather analysis, performance calculations, routing, fuel planning, and airworthiness checks, ensuring each preparation meets company and regulatory standards. Lead crew resource management through clear coordination and communication, professional and cooperative task execution, teamwork, and a safety-focused culture. Deliver a high level of passenger service by protecting passenger safety, comfort, and satisfaction and serving as the primary client contact during flights, including handling concerns and special requests. Participate actively in the Safety Management System, promote proactive safety, identify and mitigate risks with risk-analysis tools, and take part in safety audits and corrective actions. Mentor First Officers and other flight crew, clarify roles and responsibilities, and provide direction and feedback that supports professional growth. What We Offer
The compensation package includes a $170,000.00 - $220,000.00 annual salary, eligibility for a 15-20% bonus target, and negotiable relocation compensation, including qualified move allowances coordinated with the Controller.
Requirements
- Flight-experience qualifications are listed as 3,000 hours total time (TT), 1,500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC), 1,500 hours multi-engine land (MEL), 500 hours multi-engine PIC, 500 hours jet time, and 250 hours IFR. The posting lists 250 hours of PIC in type as preferred. Required credentials are an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with a multi-engine land rating and a current First-Class Medical Certificate. An FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit is preferred. Candidates should have strong knowledge of FAA regulations, flight planning, and safety management systems
- excellent communication and leadership skills with sound decision-making under pressure
- and proficiency with flight-planning and aviation-management software. Previous Part 135 experience is highly desirable.
