About This Role
RTX is seeking an onsite Test Pilot to join its Flight Test Operations team in Ontario, California, supporting the B737-800 Next Generation Testbed and other FTO platforms, including the Challenger 601. The role supports flight-test planning and execution, engineering and maintenance coordination, mission operations oversight, airworthiness activities, classified flight testing, and deployments to military ranges and FAA airspace. The position includes occasional domestic and international travel of up to 20%, typically in one- to two-week deployments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate flight-test missions involving military ranges and FAA airspace
- conduct internal flight-test readiness evaluations and coordinate customer airworthiness audits
- lead mission-planning and coordination briefings
- contribute to test reporting
- coordinate aircraft-maintenance activities and liaise with subcontracted support teams
- qualify and maintain currency on Raytheon FTO test aircraft, including the B737-800, CL601, B727-200, and C206, as a test-pilot crew member
- perform work in classified and SAP environments
- and travel to CONUS and OCONUS test ranges. Typical deployment locations include Eglin AFB, Florida
- Nellis AFB, Nevada
- Tucson, Arizona
- and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Requirements
- Applicants typically need a university degree or equivalent experience and at least 10 years of relevant experience, including Boeing 737 and operational or military test-pilot experience. Flight-test experience within the last 10 years, a Commercial Pilot Certificate, and the ability to hold an FAA First Class medical and Airline Transport Pilot certificate are required. Candidates must have 1,500 hours of pilot time, including at least 500 hours as Pilot in Command, and 1,000 hours of turbine experience. Preferred qualifications include graduation from a military Test Pilot School, Weapons School, or equivalent formal course
- advanced qualifications such as Instructor Pilot or Flight Examiner
- experience with large multi-engine turbine aircraft over 12.5K lbs with onboard mission crew or tactical-fighter test-pilot experience
- an FAA ATP Certificate
- leadership of flight-operations or aircraft-maintenance organizations
- Top Secret clearance
- flight-test mission-control-room experience
- and experience in classified programs. U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance, and the candidate must be able to obtain an interim U.S. government Secret clearance before the start date.
