About This Role
Twin Cities Flight Training Inc is seeking a part-time Flight Instructor in Blaine, Minnesota to provide FAA Part 61 training for private-pilot, instrument, and commercial-pilot candidates, serving both hobbyists and career-focused professional pilots. The instructor trains students to meet or exceed Airman Certification Standards and may accept non-primary students when their primary instructor is unavailable. The role combines flight, simulator, and in-person or virtual ground instruction with student onboarding, scheduling, records and progress support, stage-check coordination, aircraft towing and parking, fueling, cleanliness, aircraft-status reporting, and suggestions for new ideas and procedures to the Chief Flight Instructor. The posting lists compensation of $25–$30 per hour.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide flight training in accordance with FAA Part 61 rules and the flight school's Training Course Outlines, accepting Private Pilot, Instrument, and Commercial Pilot candidates as well as non-primary students when needed. Deliver flight, simulator, and in-person or virtual ground instruction
- ensure course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met
- arrange student Stage Checks
- and provide feedback on student progress with student-specific suggestions while meeting each student's needs so the course is completed in a timely manner. Contact and meet new customers to explain the facility, policies, procedures, and training courses
- support onboarding and scheduling
- maintain accurate computer and logbook records
- confirm required documents before instruction
- and provide high-quality customer service. Ensure students follow the Twin Cities Flight Safety Procedures and Practices Manual, remain familiar with FAA regulations, training requirements, Advisory Circulars, and airport operations, and report airplane status, functions, and discrepancies. Assist with airplane towing and parking, fueling, maintaining clean and presentable aircraft, and maintaining a clean training environment. Support other instructors and staff, propose new ideas and procedures to the Chief Flight Instructor, attend staff meetings and standardization training, use digital staff platforms for facility and aircraft updates, closures, meetings, announcements, curriculum changes, and staff events, and abide by company policies.
Requirements
- The minimum qualifications are an unexpired FAA Airplane, Single-engine Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument certificate, although the instrument requirement may be waived based on company needs at the time of inquiry, and an FAA third-class medical.
- Candidates must satisfactorily perform initial and recurrent flights with the Chief Flight Instructor as required under 14 CFR 141, demonstrate satisfactory ground and flight knowledge to the Chief Flight Instructor for each course, and participate in the drug and alcohol testing program.
- Instructors are also expected to follow the flight school curriculum and Training Course Outlines, meet course standards and objectives, maintain FAA-compliant student records, comply with the Twin Cities Flight Safety Procedures and Practices Manual and company policies, and confirm that required student or renter documents are on file before instruction.
