About This Role
FlightSafety International is hiring a Flight Instructor at its Teterboro training location in Moonachie, New Jersey. The position delivers ground and simulator instruction for clients enrolled in core, specialty, and enrichment courses, while also preparing curriculum-aligned training materials, evaluating trainee progress, maintaining detailed training records, resolving training issues, and keeping instructor qualifications current. The role supports FlightSafety's global aviation training business, which provides instruction and simulator-based services to pilots and other aviation professionals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction in accordance with applicable aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that support delivery of the applicable curriculum and meet individual client needs.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, recommending trainees for qualification or additional training as appropriate.
- Complete accurate, client-specific training records to support each trainee's achievement of the requested objectives.
- Identify client training issues and obtain assistance before executing the training.
- Maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements
- No minimum education requirement is stated. Candidates must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program and must hold an unrestricted ATP certificate or an Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state. Applicants without an ATP must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation. At least one unrestricted PIC type rating is required. Preferred qualifications include FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience and 2,500 hours of total flight time. The position requires knowledge of aviation safety standards, aviation regulations, effective classroom-management and teaching ability, first-level facilitation and customer-service skills, and the ability to accept coaching and feedback. Physical requirements include manipulating rudder and/or anti-torque controls with both feet, operating simulator controls from the instructor's chair, entering and exiting the simulator using its ramp, moving between the instructor station, screen, and podium during classroom instruction, and exiting a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude. The employee must be able to perform the listed reaching, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and sensory activities
- regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds. The work may involve moving mechanical parts, high or precarious locations, outdoor weather, wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock, radiation, and vibration. Employment is subject to compliance reviews, including OFAC sanctions screening. The position may involve access to ITAR- or EAR-controlled technology and may require U.S. Person status or other export authorization, as well as eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
