About This Role
FlightSafety International, a professional aviation training company and flight simulator provider, is seeking a Flight Instructor in Lutz, Florida. The instructor delivers ground and simulator flight training to clients taking core, specialty, and enrichment courses, prepares curriculum-supporting materials, evaluates trainee progress, maintains accurate training records, addresses training issues, and keeps instructor qualifications current under applicable aviation regulations. The position also requires effective classroom management, customer service, knowledge of aviation safety and regulations, and the physical ability to operate simulator controls and work safely in the described training environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that support delivery of the applicable curriculum and meet client needs.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, recommending qualification or additional training as appropriate.
- Complete accurate client-specific training records to support achievement of the requested objectives.
- Identify client training issues and seek assistance before execution, and maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- No minimum education is specified. Applicants must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program and must hold an unrestricted ATP certificate or an Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state. Applicants without an ATP must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation. At least one unrestricted PIC type rating is required. Preferred qualifications include FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience and 2,500 hours of total flight time. Physical capabilities include manipulating rudder or anti-torque controls with both feet, operating simulator controls from the instructor station, entering and exiting the simulator via its ramp, moving between the instructor station, screen, and podium, and exiting a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude. Required vision includes close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, plus focus adjustment. The employee may lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently and may work near moving mechanical parts, at heights, outdoors, and around conditions including fumes, chemicals, temperature extremes, electrical shock, radiation, and vibration. Employment is contingent on compliance reviews, OFAC requirements, export-control requirements, possible U.S. Person or export-authorization eligibility, and, where required, eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
