About This Role
FlightSafety International is seeking a Flight Instructor in Seattle to deliver exceptional ground and simulator instruction in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety training principles. The instructor will train pilots in core, specialty, and enrichment courses; prepare curriculum-aligned materials; evaluate trainee progress and qualification readiness; maintain accurate training records; identify training issues before execution; and maintain instructor qualifications. The role requires an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member-state Airline Transport Pilot License, or compliance with the listed FAA alternative requirements, as well as at least one unrestricted PIC type rating. FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, military training experience, and 2,500 hours of total flight time are preferred. The posted salary range is $92,575.00 to $157,550.00, with a benefits package including vacation, sick leave, a 401k match, healthcare coverage, and other benefits.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that support training delivery and meet client needs in accordance with the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress and recommend qualification or additional training.
- Complete accurate client-specific training records to support the requested training objectives.
- Identify client training issues and seek assistance before execution.
- Maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements
- Applicants must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program. The minimum qualifications are an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member-state Airline Transport Pilot License
- applicants without an ATP must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation. Applicants must also hold a minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating. Preferred qualifications include FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience and 2,500 hours of total flight time. The instructor should know aviation safety standards, practices, and common aviation regulations
- manage classes and teach effectively
- demonstrate first-level facilitation and customer service skills
- and be coachable and receptive to feedback. The position requires the physical ability to operate simulator and classroom controls, manipulate rudder or anti-torque controls with both feet, enter and exit the simulator via its ramp, move between the instructor station, screen, and podium, and exit a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude. Required vision includes close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, together with the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds. The work may involve moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, outdoor weather, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock, radiation, and vibration. Employment is subject to compliance reviews, OFAC sanctions requirements, export-control eligibility under ITAR or EAR, and potentially obtaining and maintaining a U.S. Government security clearance.
