FlightSafety International is seeking a Flight Instructor for the New Castle, Delaware listing, with Philadelphia, Newark, Baltimore, and New York also shown as locations. The role provides exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction for clients taking core, specialty, or enrichment training courses and supports them in meeting requested objectives. It combines teaching with preparation of curriculum-based materials, trainee evaluation, qualification recommendations, precise training records, issue identification and escalation, and ongoing maintenance of instructor qualifications. The work includes classroom and simulator activity, including manipulating controls, entering and exiting the simulator, and moving among the instructor station, screen, and podium, with the physical and environmental exposures described in the posting.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Flight Instructor delivers exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles. Duties include conducting pilot ground and simulator training for clients in core, specialty, or enrichment courses
- developing and preparing curriculum-aligned training materials that meet client needs
- evaluating and measuring trainee progress and recommending qualification or additional training
- completing accurate client-specific training records to support the requested objectives
- identifying client training issues and seeking assistance before execution
- and maintaining instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Candidates must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program. The posting requires an unrestricted ATP certificate or an Airline Transport Pilot License from an ICAO member state. If the applicant does not hold an ATP, the applicant must meet 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation. A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is required. FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience and 2,500 hours of total flight time are listed as preferred qualifications, not mandatory hour or experience floors. Required knowledge and capabilities include aviation safety standards and practices, common aviation regulations, effective class management and teaching, first-level facilitation, first-level customer service, and coachability with the ability to receive feedback. Employment is contingent on compliance reviews, including confirmation that the candidate is not prohibited under U.S. Department of the Treasury OFAC sanctions programs. Physical demands include regular use of the hands, arms, and speech or hearing
- possible standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, or smelling
- reaching, exerting pressure, and manipulating rudder and/or anti-torque controls with both feet
- operating simulator controls from the instructor chair
- entering and exiting via the ramp, including exiting a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude
- and moving between the instructor station, screen, and podium. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception and focus adjustment. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently up to 25 pounds, may work near moving mechanical parts, and may encounter high or precarious places, outdoor weather, wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat, electrical-shock or radiation risks, and vibration.
