About This Role
FlightSafety International is seeking a Flight Instructor in Long Beach to deliver ground and simulator instruction for clients undertaking core, specialty, and enrichment training. The instructor will prepare curriculum-supporting materials, assess trainee progress, maintain accurate client records, resolve training issues with appropriate assistance, and maintain all required instructor qualifications. The role includes a stated salary range of $100,625 to $171,250 and FlightSafety's competitive total rewards package.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction in accordance with applicable aviation regulations and FlightSafety training principles.
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that support effective delivery and meet client needs within the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, recommending trainees for qualification or additional training as appropriate.
- Complete accurate client-specific training records to support each trainee's achievement of the requested objectives.
- Identify client training issues and obtain assistance before executing the relevant training activity.
- Maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements
- No minimum education is specified.
- Candidates must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- The position requires an unrestricted ATP certificate or an Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state.
- Applicants who do not hold an ATP must meet the requirements of 14 CFR Part 61.153 and 14 CFR Part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is required.
- FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience is preferred, as is 2,500 hours of total flight time.
- The role requires knowledge of aviation safety standards and common aviation regulations, the ability to manage classes and teach effectively, first-level facilitation and customer-service skills, and the ability to be coachable and receive feedback.
- Physical capabilities include using simulator rudder or anti-torque controls with both feet, manipulating controls from the instructor's chair, entering and exiting the simulator via its ramp, moving between the instructor station, screen, and classroom podium, and exiting a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude.
- The position requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, focus adjustment, and lifting up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently.
- Employment is subject to compliance reviews, OFAC sanctions screening, possible ITAR/EAR export-control eligibility requirements, and potentially obtaining and maintaining a U.S.
- Government security clearance.
